Selangor, Malaysia – 2025
In a bold step towards sustainable pest management, Ochre Pest Control Sdn. Bhd. is proud to announce a groundbreaking research collaboration with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), aimed at revolutionising insect fogging practices in Malaysia. The project, titled “Natural Product-Based Innovations for Eco-Friendly Insect Fogging Formulation,” marks a significant milestone in Ochre’s commitment to environmental responsibility and scientific advancement.

As part of this initiative, Ochre has awarded a research grant of MYR48,000 to UiTM’s esteemed team of researchers, who will spearhead the development of a natural, plant-based fogging formulation that is both effective against vector pests and safe for the environment and human health.
“We believe the future of pest control lies in innovation that does not compromise the health of our planet or communities,” said a representative from Ochre’s R&D division. “By collaborating with UiTM, we are investing in knowledge, sustainability, and the next generation of environmentally conscious pest solutions.”
This research addresses a pressing issue in Malaysia’s pest control industry: the widespread use of synthetic chemicals in thermal fogging. While effective, many conventional formulations carry ecological and health risks, particularly when used in densely populated or sensitive environments. The research team at UiTM will explore the use of locally sourced botanical compounds and natural emulsifiers as potential active ingredients in fogging formulations designed to target mosquitoes and other vector insects.
Objectives of the Research Collaboration:
• Develop a non-toxic, biodegradable fogging formulation using natural products
• Ensure efficacy against disease vectors such as Aedes aegypti (dengue-carrying mosquitoes)
• Conduct laboratory and field trials to validate safety, performance, and environmental impact
• Position Malaysia as a leader in green pest control innovation across Southeast Asia
The research will run over the next 12 months, involving interdisciplinary collaboration between UiTM’s Faculties of Applied Sciences and Environmental Health, with active oversight and support from Ochre’s technical and innovation team.
A Commitment to Innovation and ESG Values
This collaboration aligns with Ochre Pest Control’s broader vision of embedding Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into every aspect of its operations. As regulatory standards evolve and public awareness of environmental safety increases, Ochre is taking proactive steps to lead industry change rather than follow it.
“This is more than a research grant—it’s a statement of intent. We want to lead the shift toward safer, smarter, and greener pest control solutions,” added the Ochre spokesperson.
The outcome of this partnership has the potential to transform how fogging is carried out in residential areas, schools, hospitals, and municipalities—not just in Malaysia, but across the wider ASEAN region. Ochre looks forward to sharing the project’s progress and results in future editions of the Ochre Pest Control Annual Report.
